Defender Brede Hangeland has said that luck just wasn’t with us in the game against Aston Villa last night.

Speaking to Crystal Palace FC following the one nil loss, Hangeland said that Palace could consider themselves very unlucky not to have found the net given all the chances we created in the game.

‘I thought we were on top for large parts of the game and I can only remember two shots they had one goal. We had a lot of situations around their box so it was frustrating not to get anything from the game. I thought we had enough possession and chances to win so we need to look at why we didn’t do that. It was a disappointing evening for us.’

Echoing the thoughts of manager Neil Warnock, in terms of now ensuring we get something from the game against Tottenham Hotspur at the weekend, he also admitted it was a disappointing way to concede because it had come from nothing and Villa hadn’t exactly troubled us throughout the game but they made that chance count and it cost us.

‘I wish we could’ve have done better for their goal, and with all the times we had to ball in their box we should have scored some goals. We had a lot of set pieces and crosses and it didn’t fall for us, and everything we shot hit their goalkeeper so it was just one of those days unfortunately.’

Hangeland finishes by saying that ultimately we have to look at it as a lost opportunity to get three points because it was a game we should’ve won and had we won, it would have been deservedly so.
