Word On The Tweet

Palace Fans Want Frenchman’s New Contract Announced Quickly

|

A pretty innocuous tweet from Crystal Palace’s social media team garnered a strong response from fans yesterday.

With plenty of speculation suggesting that Yohan Cabaye’s time at Selhurst Park could be coming to an end this summer, fans are adamant our midfielder is more than worthy of a new deal.

The tweet by Palace pointed out that Cabaye made 79 interceptions in the Premier League in 2017/18 and in that particular statistics table, he came in second place for the year. For many it proves that whilst other elements of his game normally take the headlines, his overall game is often overlooked and so is his greater importance to us.

Cabaye is of course out of contract this summer, hence the speculation about his future, but if the tweets from fans are anything to go off then there is a groundswell of opinion that wants the 32-year-old midfielder to extend his time with us – even if it’s only an extra 12/24 month option as we rebuild after this season’s struggles.
