Palace Legend Signs Extension – Never Seen A Man Love A Club Like He Does

|

Yesterday evening Crystal Palace confirmed that goalkeeper Julian Speroni has signed a new one-year extension at Selhurst Park.

Having arrived from Dundee back in 2004, he already has a 14-year association with us and that will now continue for at least one more season. The stopper has been named our Player of the Year a record four times and played more games than any other keeper in our history as he now sits as our fourth highest appearance maker overall with 403 showings.

In 2017/18 he made 13 showings as he challenged Wayne Hennessey for the No 1 short and speaking to Crystal Palace FC as he penned his new contract, the 39-year-old explained.

“I’ve been here so long at Crystal Palace that it’s my home, so I’m really pleased. It’s an honour and a pleasure for me to play in front of our fans, the love and support they’ve shown me over all these years has been magnificent and I just can’t thank them enough.”

As you’d expect, despite his now advanced years, fans were delighted to hear the news and it’s not that he needs to thank us for our support in as much as plenty of Palace fans wanted to thank him for his efforts across the years and his unbounded loyalty to us over those years.
