Three Year Deal For Crystal Palace’s Welshman

|

Crystal Palace didn’t just announce a new deal for Julian Speroni yesterday evening, Welsh international goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey has also secured himself new terms at Selhurst Park.

The 31-year-old made 29 appearances for us last season as we eventually avoided the drop from the Premier League and he’s been handed a new three-year deal keeping him with us until the summer of 2021.

Having arrived at the club back in February 2014 from Wolverhampton Wanderers, Hennessey has made a total of 106 appearances for us since then and he’s also our third highest international cap winner having made 35 of his 76 appearances for the Welsh during his time at Palace.

Some fans might be torn on having him between the sticks but clearly, manager Roy Hodgson is happy to put his faith in him once again. For himself, speaking to Crystal Palace FC after signing his new deal, Hennessey felt that the way we ended last season’s Premier League campaign was proof that we should be in for a much better year in 2018/19.

“I’m really happy to commit my future to the club. I’ve always said how much I enjoy playing football here and the way we ended last season shows what we’re capable of achieving as a team. Now I just want to concentrate on preparing for the new season and play my part in helping the club push on to the next level.”
