Jason Puncheon has said he couldn’t be more pleased having seen Crystal Palace sneak a top ten spot in the Premier League following our victory over Swansea on the final day of the season.

Marouane Chamakh grabbed the only goal of the game to seal a first Selhurst Park win in six weeks, and our first clean sheet since February and it moved us to 48 points – a Premier League record for us and a top half finish for the first time in 23 years.

Speaking to Crystal Palace FC following the one nil win, Puncheon explained.

‘I think breaking the points record and finishing 10th is a great effort from the lads considering we were safe. We knew there were things to achieve and fair play to the squad in the second half of the season where we pushed on. I’m buzzing for the fans, the football club and everyone surrounding it. It’s a great feeling.’

Puncheon went on to say that obviously the second half – post Pardew – part of our campaign has been a real turnaround and he’s been delighted with that, but he knew it was very important w got back to winning ways having struggled of late.

‘I think we deserved the win today, both teams knew we were safe ages ago so we could have had the last game syndrome but I think we were the better team.’

With 2014-15 now behind us, it’s all eyes to next season with renewed confidence of kicking on even further hopefully.

‘It’s a really good club to be at and I think it’s only going to grow and grow. We’ve bettered what we did last season and now we have to do the same again next year. For us now it’s all about progress. The gaffer has been brilliant and you can see that since he’s come in. He’s brought a bit more life out of everybody and squeezed a bit out of everyone and it shows in everyone’s performances.’

It’s been a very good season for a number of players, not least Punch as he ends with six goals in 39 appearances for us.
