Frank de Boer has been reunited with Jairo Riedewald after Crystal Palace completed his signing from Ajax on Monday evening.

The Dutch international has signed for an undisclosed fee on a five year deal.

Riedewald told the Official Website he had first spoken with de Boer a couple of week ago and was happy after completing his switch to Selhurst Park as it’ll give him the opportunity to play in the Premier League and work with de Boer again.

‘I am very pleased to be joining Crystal Palace and after speaking with the gaffer a couple of weeks ago I was delighted to have the opportunity to come over and play in the Premier League.’

Adding: ‘The Premier League is a great competition to be involved in and it is a great opportunity to be working under Frank de Boer once again having been with him at Ajax. I look forward to meeting my new team mates and then getting the chance to be out on the training ground and getting ready for the new season.’

Having been handed his Ajax debut by de Boer in 2013 the defender, capped three times by Holland so far and an 2014 Eredivisie title-winner, made 93 appearances for the Dutch giants in total.

De Boer added: ‘Jairo Riedewald is a player I know well through my time at Ajax and I’m glad that he’s now coming to join us at Crystal Palace. He will be an excellent addition to our squad, Jairo is a young player but already has a lot of experience. I know he is looking forward to playing in the Premier League.’

Riedewald, 20, is a central defender but his versatility allows him to play at left back and as a defensive midfielder too – he becomes de Boer’s second addition after Chelsea midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek joined on a season-long loan.
