New signing Jeff Schlupp has been speaking about his decision to switch from Leicester City to Crystal Palace this January window.

Having been with Leicester since he was a schoolboy the Ghana international completed his switch to Selhurst Park on Friday and did get nine minutes as a substitute in the loss to West Ham over the weekend.

Speaking to Crystal Palace FC on Sunday, Schlupp explained that he felt it was the right time to face a new challenge and of course working under am Allardyce was a pull as well making the move a no brainer for him.

‘I was at Leicester for many years and I think the time was right to move on and take my career onto a different path and I saw this opportunity come along to play for Crystal Palace and it was a no-brainer. Everyone knows how big the club is and you can see it is going places, it has quality players and a manager in Sam Allardyce who is known for doing well in the Premier League so it was an easy decision for me.’

Having made his debut as a second half substitute in Saturday’s match only 24 hours after joining us, the 24 year old also spoke about his preferred position on the pitch given the numbers of roles he did take on for Leicester in his time with them.

‘I enjoy playing anywhere down the left hand side, left midfielder or left back. I will play anywhere in the team that the manager wants me to play though as long as I am helping the side. It is easy to say that Selhurst Park has the best atmosphere In the Premier League for me, playing there is always something I look forward to and I can`t wait to bring my best attributes, pace and exciting the crowd and hopefully help the team get some results.’

With 24 appearances to his name as Leicester lifted the Premier League crown last term, and 150 appearances across his career (12 international caps for Ghana) Schlupp went on to say he was looking forward to working under Big Sam and learning from him now.

‘Everyone knows what he is about and is a big name in the game. He has done well at a number of Premier League clubs and I look forward to working with him.’

Having been in London previously during a loan spell with Brentford where he played striker, scoring six goals in 10 appearances, he went on to say.

‘It was quite a while ago, I was just 18 years old at the time playing up front. London is a great place and hopefully I will feel at home here as soon as possible. Everyone knows that Crystal Palace should be much higher up in the league, at least the top half and hopefully I can help get the club back where it belongs.’
