Warnock On Best Performance Yet

Manager Neil Warnock has admitted he was somewhat lost for words following our ‘most complete’ performance against Spurs.

Speaking to Crystal Palace FC following our one all draw at White Hart Lane, Warnock had to admit he had no idea how we didn’t actually win the game.

‘I’m really lost to explain how we didn’t win the game, we have improved over recent weeks, that is probably the most complete performance since I have come back to the club. Against Liverpool we scored the goals but, I could tell in the dressing room that we were focused and knew what we were doing. We wanted to attack them, the game was there to be won and we started on a positive note.’

Warnock goes on to say that he feels he had to ‘take his hat off’ to Hugo Lloris between the sticks for them because he pulled off some ‘fantastic’ saves and our manager felt he had put in a particularly #fantastic’ performance to stop us from breaking the deadlock and had he not been on his game then it could’ve easily been a two, three niller for him.

Not winning the game was the disappointment though, the pleasure was in the performance and with many highlighting the showing of Yannick Bolasie in particular, Warnock said it was difficult to choose for him because so many players put in wonderful performances as it was a real team showing and as well as crediting Bolasie for his efforts on the day, he also said Wilfried Zaha had been showing signs of further improvement, the back four were solid, midfield did everything they could to defend and support the attack and he actually picked out Marouane Chamakh as his pick of the 90 minutes.

‘We believe we have a decent team, we have felt sorry for ourselves sometimes this season but we have to make our own luck. We played some quality stuff so it is frustrating to be talking about only a point but we have just got to believe in ourselves. I can’t ask for any more, the shift they put in was amazing.’

With scoring being highlighted again, the gaffer also repeated his earlier comments that in January we would be looking for a ‘top goalscorer’ in the January window as in many ways that is the missing piece of the jigsaw for us, and if he can get that dream 15-20 goal a season striker then he feels it will perfectly compliment the strikers we have.
