With the departure of Morgan Gould, some have suggested it is because a deal for Anthony Gardner was back on, but Freedman insists that’s not the case – although an offer remains on the table.

Speaking to the Croydon Advertiser the boss said.

‘There is still a chance with Anthony. It’s purely the financial side of things that is holding that back. We have offered him what we are prepared to.’

Freedman adds that he intends to stick to his budgets and both in terms of fees or wages, he won’t budge on what he believes it is safe to go to, and that goes for everybody, not just Gardner in this instance.
