Goalscorer Fraizer Campbell has said he was delighted with the impact he had in last night’s game against Newcastle United.

Coming off the bench in the 26th minute, replacing on loan Yaya Sanogo, Campbell went on to hit the leveller in the game inside of the final 20 minutes and speaking to the Crystal Palace FC he explained.

‘It’s always nice to be on the pitch, the team have been doing so well of late it’s been hard to get minutes. It was great to play but disappointing we didn’t take all three points. I think it helps if you can help the team in a number of positions, I would prefer playing up front but I don’t mind doing a job for the team.’

Campbell goes on to say that with another game coming up in quick succession this weekend now, the players have to focus again, recover and rest up and be ready to go to keep our current good run of form going. He is however hoping he’s made a dent in manager Alan Pardew’s mind for the next match with his performance.

‘I’ve not played for a while so I’ll have a few days of running around and get some acid out of my legs.’

Another playing making an impact having not played for a while was our returning African Cup of Nations star Yannick Bolasie who came off the bench to fire in a series of dangerous crosses, and Campbell got on the end of one of them.

Speaking himself after the game, Bolasie explained.

‘I think it’s a dream come true for myself, I couldn’t have imagined anything better to be honest. It was a big achievement for myself and my country to finish third.’

As for the Newcastle game.

‘I don’t think a draw was a fair result, I think we could have won it. I think Newcastle hit us when we weren’t expecting it but we’ve come back into the game and we had it covered and had a couple of chances to win it. It looked like Brede Hangeland’s header was going in but Krul is a top goalkeeper so I’m not surprised he saved it.’
