Saturday`s 2-0 defeat at Sheffield Wednesday maybe just the beginning as Palace look to finish mid table, with fingers crossed its not worse now that Claude Davis is crocked.

The on-loan Derby defender was forced off with a hamstring injury 10 minutes into the second half – and the Eagles will know more about the full extent of the problem within the next couple of days.

Sean McAllister and Leon Clarke scored late goals as Palace went down to a fifth defeat in their last six , but Warnock was quick to point out the difference after Davis left the pitch.

“I didn`t see a problem for us when Claude was on so I think that answers where are problems are,” said Warnock. “I just think he and Paddy McCarthy are good players and we`ve been unlucky to lose that type of centre-half.

“I can`t see us getting another one in. We`re talking about Paddy being about four weeks away so we`ve just got to struggle on as we are.

“As soon as Claude came off we got back to our old ways – we go 20 yards deeper and invite more pressure.

“I`m not sure we would have won at Plymouth without Claude, even though we scored three goals. He just gives us that little extra and we need that leader in that area.”

Bad result and your current form is not good enough to make the play-offs. Mid table me thinks.
