Could One Of The Longest Saga’s In Palace’s History Finally Be At An End

|

When Crystal Palace signed Newcastle United attacker Andros Townsend it set in motion a piece of speculation that feels like it’s reared its head every month and then every other day during transfer windows being open.

Newcastle have been linked with their former player on a regular basis ever since he first walked through Selhurst Park’s gates and this summer’s transfer window has certainly been no different so far.

The latest iteration of the rumour started gaining traction on Sunday where Sky Sports were one of many to rehash the claim that both Palace and Newcastle were in formal talks over the former England international.

It was claimed we had set our price to do business and negotiations were now ongoing to see if agreement could be made that suited all parties.

It’s a typical ‘Sky sources understands’ story and leans on former speculation of a supposed failed bid back in the January window last season for the 26-year-old. That’s pretty much where the bones of this rehash begin and end, there is actually nothing of note in terms of any real details so Palace fans will just have to watch on and see if anything actually comes from it this time.
